Building Professional and Leadership Prowess Among PWDs in Africa

The Challenged Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization focused in making the voices of persons with disability clearly heard in society. We assist persons with disability in our best way to achieve their dreams through our educational and training workshops hence our advocacy forums.

The challenged Foundation is wholly Ghanaian owned liability organization which was incorporated under Ghana’s companies code 1963 act 179.

OUR MISSION

We are on the mission to get

POLICY ACCESSIBILITY

Government policies and programmes; Political/local governance processes, and Civic decision-making processes.

Prioritizing the development of persons with disabilities are factored/mainstreamed into policies, plans, programmes and activities of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), so as to help enhance the quality of life, full participation, and empowerment of men, women, youth, the elderly and children with disabilities in all spheres of life.

MEDICAL FACILITIES

Corrective Surgery & Mobility Rehabilitation Support

The Challenged Foundation using this programme provides small funding for persons with disabilities, especially children for corrective surgery, artificial limbs, calipers and crutches as well as physiotherapy exercises. We also receive donations of mobility aids such as wheelchairs, crutches, white canes and walkers for distribution to people with disabilities who really need these devices.

EDUCATION

Education and literacy are as important a tool to empower persons with disability, indiscriminate of gender to have improved quality of life and high standard of personal development.

Our education programme therefore is focused on: Promoting access to quality basic education. Supporting interested persons with disabilities for vocational skills training, Mentoring and coaching, Human Rights Education & Empowerment.

We want to get our voice heard and change policies affecting the lives of person living with disability through carrying our advocacies and sensitization, coaching and mentoring, and stakeholders’ consultation in all sectors of the society.

THE MANAGEMENT

Veronica Lomfa Amartey

Founder / Managing Director

Veronica Lomfa Amartey controls and manages the challenged foundation. The setup of the foundation, facilitation of the foundation’s vision, development, strategies and direction vest in her.

Collins Amoani

Director (Operations and Administrative)

Is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising all administrative and operational functions and activities across all departments and geographies. He works directly with the Executive director to coordinate alliances with international strategic partners / representatives and responsible for directing activities and the use of resources directing fund raising efforts, monitoring government regulations and guiding public policy.

Natalie Adaletey Dorsu

Finance Manager

Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization's financial status. Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.

The Challenged Foundation seeks to solve this problem.

We seek to reach persons with disability and get them help and support that will make their lives much better whereas allowing them to share their success stories through interviews, forums and discussions to motivate others.
